Best digital camera for a student photographer?

I am currently a learner in high school, and I am very interested in digital photography. I do not have a lot of experience with purchasing cameras, and I am looking for a digital camera that has great features, painless to use functions, and is durable. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

If your budget allows, get an SLR Digital Camera. They are not real expensive, but more so than a regular digital. The slr stands for unwed lens reflex. It is like a regular 35mm camera, with changeable lenses and filters and such, but uses digital media to store the portrait. They take stunning pictures, and are adaptable to any setting by a simple lens or filter change. The Nikkon D-70 is one to fashion at, as well as many others. I bought my wife a D-50 several years ago, and she loves it to this day. The D-70 has a few more modes, which make it lots easier for newer photographers. You don't have to phobia about all the settings as much that way, and can just take high quality pics right off the bat. Then, once you learn more about photography and your camera, you can really get to work!

Truly the best camera for a student photographer is a 35mm SLR. After you have learned to compose, expose, develop and print your images, then you can buy a DSLR that matches the lenses you have from you classes.

Canon XTI, it will collapse in price when the XSI comes out. Even a used 10d, 20d, or 30d will be great. Lenses and accessories are another story!

The key going with a digital SLR is to pick the system that you wish to grow into first and then select a body that fits your price range. The two big players in the market are Canon and Nikon so I would look at these two systems and see which genre has the lenses and accessories that I want to use in photography then select a camera body that I can afford along with a good entry level glass. I would lean towards Canon and the Rebel series for a beginner, but the Nikon D40 and D60 Nikons are serious contenders in this market as well. Good luck! canon 60d digital camera
